CHENNAI: With only weeks left for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election, political tensions are rising in the state with fresh allegations and counter-allegations. Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has alleged that the controversy surrounding his divorce petition is part of a conspiracy by the DMK. He made these remarks while addressing a rally in Tirunelveli.
"There are many conspiracies going on to block me politically. The deaths that occurred during the stampede in Karur and the controversies related to the film 'Jana Nayagan' have not weakened me. The government even introduced special guidelines to stop my meetings, but that has also failed. Now, they are trying to target me personally by using people close to me. The divorce petition was filed exactly 30 days before the election to defame me," Vijay said.
He also alleged that Chief Minister M K Stalin had spent large sums of money to control the Congress in the state. "What exists in Tamil Nadu now is only a cash-box alliance. However, real Congress workers are with me. The DMK and the BJP are working together to stop me. Tamil Nadu has long been hoping for the golden rule of leaders like C N Annadurai and K Kamaraj. TVK can bring that back. People should give me a chance to change the future of Tamil Nadu,” he added.
