CPM activist succumbs to injuries sustained when burning effigy of Trump

CHENNAI: A party activist who sustained injuries in a fire that broke out while burning an effigy of US President Donald Trump at a protest event organized by the CPM in Nagapattinam, has died. The accident happened during an event held to protest the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the US.

The dead is branch secretary Kalyanasundaram (45). The incident happened on January 10. He was immediately rushed to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital with serious burns. He died while undergoing treatment. When Kalyanasundaram tried to burn the effigy of Trump using petrol, the fire spread causing severe burn injuries to Kalyana Sundaram.
