BENGALURU: The diary of Confident Group Chairman C J Roy (57), who committed suicide by shooting himself during an Income Tax Department raid, has been recovered. There are hints that the diary contains details similar to the suicide note. Roy has written in the diary that he suffered setbacks in overseas ventures. He has apologized to his family.

The diary reportedly has details of people to whom payments are due and as given directions on how to run the company. It also states that long-time investors of the company should be protected and they should not be betrayed. This strengthened the suspicion that Roy had decided to end his life earlier. It is believed that Roy spoke to his brother on January 21 after having already decided to take his life.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) hopes that the mystery surrounding Roy’s death will be resolved by recording the detailed statements of his family and company employees. Income Tax officials will be questioned again. His family alleged that Roy took the drastic step due to pressure from Income Tax Department officials.

Meantime, the police said that there has been no argument or dispute between Roy and the income tax officials who conducted the raid just before his death. This conclusion is reportedly based on CCTV footage from the office. The income tax officials are firm in the stand that Roy was not subjected to any pressure.
