Man murders pregnant wife with dumbbell in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A man who beat and killed his wife, a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Commando of Delhi Police, has been arrested. Kajal Chaudhary (27) died while undergoing treatment on Tuesday. She was four months pregnant. Ankur, a clerk in the Ministry of Defence, was arrested in the incident. The incident happened on January 22 at around 10 pm.

Ankur beat Kajal with a dumbbell after a dispute over financial issues escalated. The woman suffered serious head injuries in the attack. Police said that it was Ankur who took Kajal to the hospital after the incident. The woman was initially admitted to Tarak Hospital in Mohan Garden, Delhi. She was later shifted to a private hospital in Ghaziabad. Nikhil, a constable at Parliament Street police station and brother of Kajal, responded to the media on her death.

Nikhil stated that Ankur hit Kajal on her head with a dumbbell while she was talking on the phone and that he himself told him about the assault. Nikhil has alleged that the accused's mother and two sisters used to beat Kajal constantly in the name of dowry. There is also evidence that Ankur took money from the girl's parents.

Kajal and Ankur got married in 2023. The arrested Ankur has been remanded in judicial custody by the court. The two have a one-and-a-half-year-old son.
