KANNUR: CPM Kannur district secretary K.K. Ragesh has said that the party is not obligated to present the accounts of the Dhanaraj Martyrs’ Fund to the media. He stated that, as per party practice, income and expenditure statements are presented before party committees. If the public seeks clarification, the details can be shared, but the media does not represent the entire public, he added.

Ragesh alleged that the book launch of V. Kunhikrishnan turned into a gathering of CPM opponents. He rejected Kunhikrishnan’s claim that the party suffered a loss of around Rs 92 lakh, calling it “pure imagination.” According to Ragesh, the party has not incurred even a single rupee in loss. He also alleged that the book largely reflects personal hostility toward CPM leader T.I. Madhusoodanan.

Clarifying the controversy, Ragesh said the income and expenditure accounts of the Dhanaraj Martyrs’ Fund were audited and approved by the party. The accounts were cleared by the area committee and communicated to party members. He emphasised that the fund was collected only from party members and cooperative employees associated with the party, not from the general public.

Ragesh reiterated that the party-approved accounts would not be presented before the media. However, in view of what he described as misinformation surrounding the issue, meetings of supporters and family gatherings will be organised at the booth level, where the accounts will be explained.
