Fire breaks out at textile showroom in Kozhikode, spreads to second and third floors

KOZHIKODE: A massive fire has broken out at a textile showroom in the city. The incident occurred at Jayalakshmi Silks in Palayam. According to initial reports, the fire spread rapidly to the upper floors of the building, engulfing the third and fourth floors. Thick smoke was seen rising from the premises, causing panic in the area.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel, along with locals, rushed to the spot and began efforts to contain the blaze. At present, four units of the Fire and Rescue Services are engaged in firefighting operations. Officials said the fire broke out after 6 pm. The exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.

People have been evacuated from the building. According to reports, no employees or members of the public are trapped inside.

This is not the first such incident at the establishment. In 2023, a major fire had broken out at the same location, destroying several vehicles and causing significant damage.
