KANNUR: Doctors deemed that Health Minister Veena George, who is undergoing treatment for a neck injury during the KSU workers' protest, does not need to undergo an emergency surgery. The medical bulletin states that the minister's severe pain is relieved and her blood pressure is under control with medication. The pain is due to pressure on the vertebrae in her neck. The medical bulletin states that she will continue to receive treatment at Pariyaram Medical College.

KSU activists protested against Veena George at Kannur railway station at around 3:30 pm yesterday. KSU activists showed black flags to Minister Veena George, who was about to board the Vande Bharat train to return to Thiruvananthapuram. The activists broke through the police cordon and showed black flags to the minister. In the ensuing hustle, the minister suffered a neck injury.

Police looking for visual evidence

1. The FIR states that the accused shouted “Kill her” and attacked the minister’s neck using a dangerous weapon, and also obstructed the minister in the discharge of official duties. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by gunman M.S. Abhilash.

2. However, the visuals obtained by the Railway Police, who are investigating the case, do not show any incident of attack. The police examined available mobile phone videos and media footage. Some CCTV cameras on Platform 1 were not functioning due to ongoing station renovation works.
