THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Monalisa Bhosle, the young woman who captivated the internet during the 2025 Mahakumbh Mela, will officially tie the knot with her partner, Farman Khan, in a ceremony to be held at the Nainar temple in Vizhinjam this evening. The wedding, which is drawing significant national attention, will take place in the presence of prominent political leaders, including CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan, Minister V. Sivankutty, and AA Rahim, MP. The high-profile attendance is serving as a symbolic gesture of support for the couple’s right to choose their life together in the face of intense family and societal pressure.

The path to the altar was fraught with tension, leading the couple to seek emergency refuge at the Thampanoor police station earlier today. Monalisa, a native of Indore, and Farman, from Maharashtra, arrived in the state capital seeking protection from her father, Jai Singh Bhosle, who adamantly opposed their interfaith relationship. The couple cited Kerala as a "safe haven" for their union, fearing that their love would face insurmountable opposition in other parts of the country. Following a complaint filed by Monalisa, local police summoned her father and mediated the dispute, ultimately affirming that as an adult, she possessed the legal right to decide her own future.

Monalisa’s journey to fame began in early 2025 when a video of her selling Rudraksha beads at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela went viral. Her striking amber eyes and natural charm earned her the nickname "Monalisa," but the sudden celebrity status quickly became a double-edged sword. Harassment from crowds and aggressive social media influencers eventually forced her family to send her back to her hometown of Indore for her own safety. It was during this period that her long-distance relationship with Farman, which began on Facebook over a year and a half ago, deepened into a commitment to marry.

The wedding coincides with Monalisa's burgeoning career in the film industry. She is set to make her acting debut as the lead in the upcoming film The Diary of Manipur, directed by Sanoj Mishra. The production features Amit Rao, the brother of acclaimed Bollywood star Rajkummar Rao, in his debut role. The couple was notably in Kerala for film portions being shot in Poovar and Vizhinjam when the family conflict reached a breaking point, necessitating the police intervention that paved the way for today's historic ceremony.
