
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The legal fraternity in Nedumangad is in mourning following the tragic death of prominent advocate and Bar Association member, G.T. Santosh Suryan (54), who died in a road accident near Dharmapuri, Bangalore, late Saturday night.
According to reports, the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Adv. Santosh Suryan was returning from Bangalore accompanied by a DySP and two other friends after attending to a court-related matter.
The group had been traveling in an electric vehicle (EV), which required a charge while passing through the Dharmapuri area. After leaving the car at a charging station, the four men walked across the road to a nearby hotel for a meal. The tragedy occurred as they were attempting to cross the road to return to their vehicle. Adv. Santosh Suryan, who had stepped onto the road first, was struck by a speeding National Permit lorry coming from the left.
Despite being rushed to the government hospital in Dharmapuri by his companions, he succumbed to his injuries.
The body is currently held at the Dharmapuri Hospital morgue. Following the necessary inquest procedures, it is expected to be transported to Thiruvananthapuram by Monday evening. The mortal remains will be placed at the Nedumangad Court to allow members of the public and the legal community to pay their final respects.
Minister GR Anil, along with the office bearers of the Nedumangad Bar Association, have expressed their deep condolences over the loss.
Adv. Santosh Suryan is survived by his wife, Anilatha, and their two daughters, Megha Suryan and Niharika Suryan.
