Holiday declared for educational institutions in four districts including state capital on Tuesday (Oct 22)

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District collector declared holiday for educational institutions here on Tuesday. The IMD’s red alert on Monday and Tuesday in light of heavy showers it’ll be a holiday for educational institutions including professional colleges, the collector’s intimation reads. This will be applicable for central govt educational institutions and Anganwadis.

However, there won’t be any change in University exams scheduled earlier.

Holiday was declared for educational institutions in Ernakulam, Thrissur and Alappuzha. M.G. University postponed exams scheduled on Tuesday. A red alert is in effect in seven districts on Monday-Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad and five districts-Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram on Tuesday. An orange alert has been sounded on Tuesday in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. There is a possibility for heavy showers in these districts. IMD has forecast heavy rains for the next five days in the state due to the formation of low at the Bay of Bengal. As per the forecast, districts apart from Kannur and Kasaragod will receive heavy rainfall.
