
KOCHI: Akhil Marar, the Twenty20 candidate from Thrikkakara, said he will not use his celebrity status to get votes. Marar said he would be a voice for the people and assured to never break trust. The former Bigg Boss winner also said that celebrities had no value in the state during elections.
Akhil clarified his stance after announcing his candidacy. The Twenty20 candidates who are part of the NDA were announced in three constituencies in the assembly elections. It was recently that Director and Bigg Boss star Akhil Marar joined Twenty20. Earlier, it was reported that Akhil would contest as the NDA candidate from Kottarakkara.
Akhil Marar, in an earlier interview, had revealed that he agreed to 80 per cent of the BJP's ideology but had differences on some things, which led him to join Twenty20 instead. Akhil said he would continue to support BJP policy that will be beneficial for the people. Marar even revealed that leaders, including Ramesh Chennithala and V D Satheesan, had invited him to join Congress.
President Sabu Jacob announced in a press conference that Akhil Marar had been given official membership in Twenty20.
