
NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways has revised its ticket cancellation rules. A maximum refund will be obtained for those who cancel tickets 72 hours in advance. A 25 percent charge will be levied for those who cancel 24 hours in advance. A 50 percent charge will be levied up to eight hours in advance. However, the railways have also informed that no refund will be given to those who cancel tickets in less than eight hours.
In addition, the travel class can be upgraded up to 30 minutes before the start of the journey. Earlier, it should have been done before the chart came. The boarding point can also be changed up to 30 minutes in advance. Now, boarding can be changed from any nearby station. The railways clarified that this will be very beneficial for passengers in urban areas. Earlier, the boarding point could be changed only before the chart was prepared. The authorities clarified that these changes were made to simplify the ticket cancellation rules and provide more convenience to passengers.
