'Not going to splash money, just social media campaigning', says Thiruvalla's surprise candidate Aju aka 'Chekuthan'

PATHANAMTHITTA: YouTuber Aju Alex, known better in cyberspace as Chekuthan, is contesting the elections with the intention of ending corruption. Aju is contesting as an independent candidate in the Thiruvalla assembly constituency.

“We should do everything we can to develop a transparent government system. If the government system is developed with transparency in mind, people will be able to audit it. The faults and shortcomings of the institution, which is subject to everyone's audit, will then come to light. When that happens, the public itself will find the solution. If society comes together and finds a solution, we will be able to create the best system.

This system just needs to move forward. There's nothing special I can do there. That's the basic idea of democracy. That's how a complete democracy functions. Having such an idea in mind and doing nothing for it seemed unfair. That is why I decided to contest the elections. It's not a fight against the system. It's an effort to make a better system.

I only have a social media platform for campaigning. I will go on the road once in a jeep or something. I will be active every day from 8 am until I go to sleep. I am not interested in spending money on elections. I don’t force those without social media to vote for me," said Aju Alex
