THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As heat conditions intensify in the state, the highest temperature of this season has been recorded in Palakkad district. The temperature reached 39.8°C today in Palakkad. With the possibility of a further rise in temperature in the coming days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in 12 districts across the state. The highest temperatures are currently being reported in Kollam, Kottayam, and Palakkad.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has issued special precautionary guidelines for the public. People are advised to avoid direct exposure to sunlight between 11 am and 3 pm. It is also recommended to drink plenty of water, even if not feeling thirsty, and to wear loose, light-colored cotton clothing.

As there is a high risk of conditions such as sunstroke and heat exhaustion, those working outdoors and pedestrians are urged to be especially cautious. Rising temperatures can lead to health issues. If symptoms like fatigue or discomfort occur, individuals should immediately move to a shaded area and seek medical attention.
