Rain brings relief to Kerala; state to receive heavy rainfall for next two days, yellow alert issued in several districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain is bringing much-needed relief to heat-stricken Kerala. With heavy summer showers expected today and tomorrow, a yellow alert has been issued in several districts. Today, the alert is in place for Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. Tomorrow, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts will be under alert.

The forecast predicts isolated heavy rainfall. Heavy rain refers to rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also informed that there is a chance of rain in isolated areas of Thrissur and Palakkad districts in the next three hours.
