KOTTAYAM: Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi said that his dream was to see a woman take up the chair of Chief Minister in Kerala. Rahul was speaking at Chandy Oommen's election campaign meeting in Puthuppally. When Rahul expressed this desire, the response from the male party workers was lukewarm, while the women accepted it enthusiastically.
“The Left government promised in its manifesto to provide a base price of Rs 250 for rubber, but it did not implement it. If the UDF comes to power, the first cabinet meeting will decide to set the base price at Rs 250. Then it will be increased to Rs 300.
The FCRA amendment is being implemented for the RSS. The amendment is to allow only RSS and Adani to receive foreign funds. Jobs in Kerala will only be given to RSS and LDF workers. If the UDF comes to power, it will be given to all those who are deserving. Love is the hallmark of the people of Kerala. That is what Sree Narayana Gurudevan has shown,” said Rahul.
Congress workers welcomed Rahul Gandhi with cheers as he arrived at the Pampady bus stand intersection in Puthuppally constituency. Rahul raised the excitement level of workers and sought votes for Chandy Oommen. Finally, he cycled with Chandy in a unique campaign that thrilled the onlookers and the locals alike.
The speech began with a remembrance of Oommen Chandy. Rahul said that he had decided to come to Puthuppally for the campaign, mostly for Oommen Chandy, who had been a public representative for more than half a century. Rahul recalled how Oommen Chandy joined him on the Bharat Jodo Yatra even while being seriously ill.
Rahul then attended the campaign meeting of UDF candidate Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan in Kottayam constituency and a meeting in Athirampuzha in Ettumanoor constituency.
