WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said that he is ready to end military action against Iran even though the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump told his supporters that he would later launch a major operation to reopen Hormuz.

Trump had earlier threatened to bomb Iran's energy plants, oil wells, Kharg Island and water treatment plants if it did not comply with the peace deal. Trump also demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz as early as possible.

Trump also claimed that the US is making progress in talks with the new Iranian regime to end the war. Last Friday, Trump said that he would not attack Iranian energy facilities until April 6. Doubts are growing over Trump's change of stand after 3,500 US Marines and warships arrived in the region. It is reported that more than a thousand paratroopers and American Special Forces members, who are experts at landing on targets via parachutes and attacking the enemy, have also arrived in the region.

Trump had also stated the other day that he wants Iranian oil. Trump said this in an interview given to a foreign media. Trump, who said that obtaining Iranian oil is his favorite thing, had also announced that he would seize Iran's Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf.
