VARANASI: A woman claimed of developing severe allergy and her two-year-old son suffered from diarrhea after having food supplied in Vande Bharat Express. The woman, identified as Ayushi Singh, came forward with the allegations via X along with pictures of her swollen lips and medical reports. However, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said the food was checked and confirmed and no other passengers travelling in the same train have raised any complaints.

Ayushi Singh in her X handle said that she could have lost her life due to the allergy soon after having the food. She said that she suffered the bad experience on the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Express on March 27. Her child developed diarrhea after eating food. When she met a doctor, she was told that if she had not seen a doctor immediately, it would have been life-threatening, she wrote in X.

This is not the first time that complaints have been levelled about the food served on Vande Bharat. A few days ago, IRCTC was fined Rs 10 lakh and the contractor Rs 50 lakh for finding insects in the curd served to passengers. The incident happened on March 15th when the train went from Patna to Tata Nagar in Jamshedpur. The railways also said that the contractor has been fired.

The railways took action after the footage of the incident went viral on social media. The insect was found in the curd served with dinner on the Patna Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express, train number 21896. The passenger was seen complaining to the staff. When he showed the insect in the curd, the staff replied that it was saffron.

When the passengers protested, they tried to say that it was food that had been packed from outside. The insects had fallen into other food items after the lid of the curd was broken. On inspection, it was found that the time of the curd had expired. The railways intervened after the passengers recorded the footage on their mobile phones and posted it on social media.
