KOCHI: The police expanded their investigation to include those who helped Ranjith evade arrest after the young actress filed a sexual assault complaint. The police have already located the caravan where the incident took place. Since there is no CCTV inside the caravan, the investigation team has started trying to examine the CCTV footage from nearby areas.
The investigation team will soon question actor Bobby Kurian and associate director Shalini. The SIT suspects that Ranjith received their help to evade arrest. The investigation team stated that Ranjith tried to escape arrest, knowing that he would face problems, including getting bail, as the two holidays were coming up. The police concluded that Bobby and Shalini helped the director go into hiding.
The incident related to the case took place on January 19. Ranjith is currently in police custody for 15 days. Meanwhile, Ranjith denied the allegations, calling the case framed. The court will consider his bail application on Saturday, citing physical disabilities.
Ranjith has been charged with serious sections, such as insulting femininity and sexual assault. The police argued in court that the accused poses a threat to the safety of women and that granting bail would lead to the destruction of evidence.
