THRISSUR: Police arrested and removed several activists, including UDF candidate T.N. Prathapan, during a Congress-led protest in Vadanappally. The demonstration was sparked by allegations that the BJP was distributing kits to influence voters. As the protest intensified, police moved to arrest activists who were blocking the road. A major scuffle broke out when supporters attempted to prevent Prathapan's arrest, leading to prolonged tension in the area.
The Congress leadership alleged that the BJP was attempting to subvert democracy through these distributions. The situation deteriorated further when BJP activists arrived on the scene to counter the allegations. To prevent a violent clash, police also detained the protesting BJP members. Despite these measures, Congress activists continued their demonstration, leading to the eventual arrest of the candidates and several others. A large police contingent remains deployed in Vadanappally as tensions remain high.
