THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A public brawl between two police officers outside the state police headquarters on Thursday has left the department red-faced. The clash involved CPO Visakh of the Museum Station and Kiran, a sentry posted at the headquarters gate.

The incident occurred while Visakh was on traffic duty for the Governor’s passing motorcade. Sources state that Visakh asked a woman to move her vehicle after she parked illegally near the entrance. The woman, later identified as Kiran’s mother, was reportedly delivering food to her son. Kiran subsequently confronted Visakh, accusing him of misbehaviour toward his mother, leading to a physical altercation that required intervention from fellow officers.

While Visakh sought medical attention and both parties filed complaints at the Museum Station, no cases have been officially registered yet. The incident was caught on a nearby private CCTV camera. The DCP has ordered an inquiry, with the Cantonment Assistant Commissioner set to submit a formal report on Friday. Allegations of high-level political or departmental pressure to shield one of the officers have also surfaced.
