
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With only a day left for polling, silent campaigning is underway in the state today. The candidates are trying to garner votes by directly meeting people they missed while electioneering. In constituencies where there is a possibility of issues, prohibitory orders have been issued and security arrangements have been put in place. Prohibitory orders have been issued in sensitive areas and security arrangements have been made in constituencies.
The entire state has been divided into special security zones and forces have been deployed under the leadership of high-ranking officers. Various police stations in the state have been divided into 154 election subdivisions and security arrangements have been made under the leadership of district police chiefs. The report of the police says that there are 2500 problem-prone booths in the state. 76,203 police personnel, including 28,209 special police officers, are providing security to a total of 30,471 polling booths in the state.
Apart from the local unit, special units, battalions and personnel from other departments have also been deployed for duty. 140 central army personnel and 20 companies of Tamil Nadu Police will be in Kerala as part of the elections. The DGP has informed that the Kerala Police has completed all the necessary arrangements for the voters to cast their votes in a peaceful and free manner.
