Car owned by Bindu Krishna’s son involved in accident; one on ventilator support

KOLLAM: A case has been registered against Devanandan, native of Neyyattinkara, who drove the car that hit students when the UDF workers were returning after Kottikalasham. There were four KSU activists including Devanandan in the car. The car involved in the accident is registered in the name of UDF candidate Bindu Krishna’ son. Two girls sustained serious injuries after being hit by the car and one of them is presently on ventilator support.


The accident happened Tuesday evening at 6.30 pm on Ashramam Link Road. The two girls injured are Chinnulakshmy (14) and Dhanalakshmy (14), both studying in class 8 of Vallikkeezhu Govt HSS. Chinnulakshmy is on ventilator support.

The activists were returning after Kottikalasham in Chinnakada. The students were walking towards the KSRTC bus stand along the footpath after attending the summer camp at the hockey stadium. At this time, a speeding car coming from the Taluk Kacheri area lost control, entered the footpath and hit the students. Chinnu fell into the lake and Dhanalakshmi got stuck in the protective wire on the footpath. The locals immediately rushed the children to the district hospital and later to a private hospital in Kollam.
