Special cautionary advice for people involved in election work
In the wake of the generally high summer heat in the state, the state disaster management authority advises public workers, the public and officials involved in election campaigns to be especially vigilant.

  • Prolonged exposure to direct heat on the body can cause health problems such as sunstroke, heatstroke and dehydration. Therefore, those involved in election activities should take strict safety precautions.

Those involved in campaign activities should always carry a bottle of drinking water with them. Make it a habit to drink water at regular intervals even if you do not feel thirsty.

Try to avoid direct exposure to the sun from 11 am to 3 pm as much as possible. Use an umbrella and hat. Wear footwear.

First aid facilities and an ambulance should be prepared for health problems due to heat in public meetings that involve large crowds and last for a long time.

Precautions should be taken to avoid accidents due to crowding and congestion in public events.

The elderly, those with health issues like heart disease, diabetes, skin diseases, pregnant women, breast-feeding women, and children should be given special attention as they are more susceptible to heat-related issues.

Those who have to stay in the heat for a long time, such as candidates, media workers, police officers on security duties, and political workers, must take necessary safety precautions. They should rest at regular intervals and drink plenty of water.

Avoid alcohol, carbonated drinks, tea, and coffee as much as possible during the day, which cause dehydration.

ORS, salted porridge, lemon water and buttermilk will help maintain the salt content in the body.

Wear light and light-colored cotton clothes.

If possible, use sunglasses and sunscreen.

Rest in the shade at regular intervals between activities and cool down the body.

If you experience excessive fatigue, dizziness, headache, muscle cramps, or redness of the body, immediately move to a shady place and rest.

Thunderstorms that occur with summer rains are also dangerous. Move from open areas to safe buildings as soon as possible.

The Election Commission should ensure necessary facilities for the officials involved in election work.

The above instructions should be strictly followed during heat wave warning periods.

In emergency situations, you can contact Ambulance 108 and District Emergency Operations Center: 1077 for help.
