Following the acquittal of the accused in the Walayar rape case, several prominent personalities have come up demanding reinvestigation by raising their voice for the two girls who met with untimely deaths. Actors Prithviraj and Tovino Thomas too have responded on the issue. Now, director Shrikumar Menon has come up with a Facebook post requesting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to take appropriate action regarding the issue.
In his post, Shrikumar Menon, a father of a girl child, urges the Chief Minister to take action in such a way that daughters and their parents can live peacefully without any fear. His Facebook post-reads-'As per my knowledge about this society, this land and time are not safe, especially for women. Being the father of a girl child, I was terrified when I came across the news of two small girls who were found hanging in Walayar. It is even more terrifying to know that the culprits who raped and murdered them are still living freely in our society. I grew up in the same Walayar that witnessed the deaths of those two innocent girls. The case of Jisha in Perumbavoor is very much similar to this case as the victims were Dalits and did not have even a door to protect them from criminals.
We must remind ourselves that Walayar is in our India and not anywhere else. As I am sitting next to my daughter, I would like to request the Chief Minister and Police Chief to ensure 'excessive justice' in Walayar. Due to my concern for my daughter's safety. I often get frightened thinking about her safety and it was worse when she went to pursue her higher education. Sometimes I fear that my excessive concern for her safety might take her away from me. Therefore, I would like to request the CM to take appropriate action and make our Kerala safe for all daughters and their parents. Dear Chief Minister, I have faith in you...'
