KOCHI: Though the authorities were successful in carrying out the demolition works of the controversial flats, the residents of Maradu are finding it difficult to live there as the region is filled with dust and debris of the demolished flats. Many of the residents have hesitated to come back as the region still continues to be haunted by air and sound pollution.

While the authorities have started working on the separation of the steel rods of the demolished buildings, they are yet to begin the removal of debris from the region. Sources said that the authorities haven't finalised a site to dispose of the debris, Meanwhile, the Green Tribunal and Pollution Control Board have expressed dissatisfaction over the treatment of the remainings.
