Corona: Will intervene to bring back Malayali students stranded in Manila, says Muraleedharan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union MoS V Muraleedharan has said necessary steps will be taken to bring back Malyalais students stranded in Philippines’ capital Manila, which is facing travel ban in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak.

Over the past two days, more than hundred Medical students have been stranded in Manila airport. The Philippines government has issued an order that all foreigners including Indians should leave their country within 72 hours. Heeding the instructions, the students had reached airport after booking tickets but were informed that flights have been cancelled.

In Philippines, the government had also ordered the closure of shops and malls and there are also restrictions on people wanting to go out.


Meanwhile, Liya Mol, a third year MBBS student of University of Perpetual help and Kottayam native, told Kerala Kaumudi via Whatsapp call that they was even restriction for travelling in taxi cabs.

Along with Liya, Ernakulam native Anna and Thrissur native Abhirami are also waiting with expectation to return home.
