THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala DGP Loknath Behera has instructed police officers to follow strict guidelines while checking vehicles on the streets. Upon noticing that many officers are not using personal protective equipments, the DGP on Thursday issued an order asking the officials to wear masks and gloves while checking the vehicles.

The officers have also been asked not to bend into vehicles during the checking process. Officials should not touch passengers or vehicles without using gloves. They must also take necessary precautions in case of opening the trunks of any vehicles, the order stated.

Upon stopping the vehicles for checking, police should also take care to maintain a safe distance from the passengers. The DGP has also instructed the officers to clean their hands using sanitizers or soaps at regular intervals. It must be noticed that the state has been witnessing strict police checking ever since a lockdown was imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus.
