Number of Covid cases through local transmission increasing in Kerala; 14 persons contract disease through contact on Sunday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister KK Shailaja on Sunday said that 14 more persons in the state have contracted COVID-19 through local transmission. Of these five are health workers of a private hospital in Malappuram, 4 are in Kottayam, while one each are in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Kannur and Palakkad districts. The four people who contracted the disease in Kottayam have been identified as a health worker of a private hospital in Kottayam, her husband and 2 children. It is a matter of concern that the state has been witnessing an increase in the number of cases through local transmission.


Meanwhile, the state reported a total of 118 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday while 42 coronavirus patients tested negative. As of today, there are 2015 active cases under treatment for the viral disease at various hospitals in Kerala. 2150 persons recovered from the disease.
