THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The district collector Dr Navjot Khose said the lockdown imposed in the coastal areas here has been extended till August 16. The lockdown will be strictly imposed in three critical containment zones in coastal areas in the district. From August 10, trawling is allowed in Vizhinjam.

However, fisher folks should only venture out into the sea in accordance with the weather forecast. Scheduled banks in coastal areas can function with 50 percent employees on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Akshaya centres can open between 9 am and 1 pm. The token system should be implemented and COVID protocol should be strictly followed. The district collector said that strict action will be taken in any case of violation of COVID guidelines
