Kerala records 2450 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, 2346 cases through contact; 2110 recoveries

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala recorded 2450 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed. Among the new cases, 2346 persons developed the disease through contact including 212 cases without an identified source of infection. 34 persons came from abroad while 73 came from other states. 64 health workers also tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

District wise break up of positive cases:

Thiruvananthapuram- 332
Ernakulam- 255
Kannur- 232
Palakkad- 175
Thrissur- 161
Kollam- 142
Kottayam- 122
Alappuzha- 107
Idukki- 58
Kasargod- 56
Wayanad- 20
Pathanamthitta- 16

The state also reported 15 COVID deaths on Monday taking the toll to 454, the CM added.

As many as 2,05,158 persons are under observation in the state with 22,917 in hospitals. In the past 24 hours, 22,279 samples were tested.

At present, there are 615 hotspots with the addition of 17 regions and the removal of 9.
