COVID-19: Kerala records 6244 cases on Wednesday; 7792 recoveries, 20 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed 6244 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, health minister KK Shailaja said. Among the new cases, 5745 persons developed the disease through contact including 364 cases without an identified source of infection. As many as 18 had come from abroad and 81 from other states. 36 health workers tested positive for the virus today.

7792 coronavirus patients tested negative for the virus in the last 24 hours. Currently, there are 93,837 active cases in the state.

The state recorded 20 COVID deaths on Wednesday with the toll rising to 1066.

In the last 24 hours, 50,056 samples were sent for testing.

While 7 new areas were added to the hotspots list, 14 areas were removed from it. At present, there are 653 hotspots in the state.
