NEW DELHI: Chief Vigilance Officer of External Affairs will investigate the incident in which Mahila Morcha leader Smitha Menon participated a ministerial conference held in Abu Dhabi along with Union Minister V Muraleedharan. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has directed an inquiry based on the complaint lodged by Yuva Janata Dal national president Salim Madavoor.

Earlier, the protocol officer of the Ministry of External Affairs had given a clean chit to Muraleedharan in the complaint by stating that there was no violation of protocol. However, Salim Madavoor said that he would not accept the move and that it was a breach of protocol on Muraleedharan's part. Salim Madavoor had also lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Commission against the minister.
