KASARGOD: The CPM candidates, including the candidate contesting for the presidency in three wards in the Madikkai grama panchayat, have no opponents. This means that the CPM candidates in wards 11, 12 and 13 in Madikkai panchayat will get elected unopposed.

The three candidates are V. Radha (Kakkat), Rama Padmanabhan (Adukkath Parambu), and presidential candidate S Preetha (Chalakkadavu). Though the BJP had announced candidates in the three wards, they were unable to file nomination papers as there was no one to support them. BJP leaders alleged that those who supported the BJP candidates last time were intimidated by CPM activists. While some had come forward to sign, they were forced to withdraw following the threat from CPM workers.

The LDF candidate in the 7th ward of the Kayyoor-Cheemeni panchayat also has no opponents.
