Gold smuggling case: NIA files petition against bail granted to 10 accused

KOCHI: The High Court has directed to issue notice against 10 accused in the gold smuggling case after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a petition seeking cancellation of their bail. The petition was filed against the bail granted to eighth accused E Saidalavi, ninth accused PT Abdu, 11th accused Muhammad Ali Ibraham, 14th accused Muhammed Shefeeq, 16th accused Muhammad Anwar, 19th accused Amjad Ali, 21th accused CV Jifsal, 22th accused P Aboobacker, 23rd accused Abdul Shameem, 24th accused PM Abdul Hameed.

The NIA court had granted bail to the 10 accused on October 15. According to the petition, the NIA court said that the evidence so far showed that the accused had been used as an instrument of financial gain in the gold smuggling. The NIA said that bail was granted without considering the facts and evidence in the case.
