KOCHI: The Kerala team for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was declared. The team to be led by Sanju Samson with Sachin Baby as vice-captain will also have S Sreesanth who is returning to first-class cricket after a gap of seven years. The Kerala team also have four new faces.

In 2013, a lifetime ban was imposed by BCCI on Sreesanth following his involvement in IPL spot-fixing case. In the legal battle that ensued for many years, the ban was reduced to seven years. Sreesanth became active again in first-class cricket as the ban came to an end in 2020 September. He has said on Friday that certain IPL teams have invited him to play the next season and he is undergoing practice sessions to maintain his form.
