Kerala logs 5980 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 5457 cases through contact, 18 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5980 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the media here. Among these, 5457 persons developed the disease through contact including 386 cases without an identified source of infection. 96 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 41 health workers contracted the disease on Monday.


5745 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 64,346 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 18 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 3920.

In the last 24 hours, 80,106 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 7.47.


With the addition of 11 new regions and the removal of 11, there are 459 hotspots in the state.
