THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Petrol and diesel pumps will be set up at 67 KSRTC depots to supply fuel to private vehicles. This is to increase non-ticket revenue. The MoU with the IOC regarding this will be signed on Monday. Through this, KSRTC expects to get around Rs 70 crore per annum after deducting all expenses including rent from the dealer commission.
Minister AK Saseendran will inaugurate it online at 5 pm. KSRTC CMD Biju Prabhakar and Indian Oil Corporation Chief General Manager SK Dhanapandyan will sign the MoU at the Muscat Hotel. Transport Principal Secretary KR Jyothilal will preside over the function.
In addition to the Indian Oil Corporation's 66 pumps at depots, facilities will be set up at the regional workshop and pump stand in Aluva. In Pampa, permission will be sought from the Forest Department and the Devaswom Board.
The new system will be located in front of the depots along the road. Diesel and petrol will be available. Retail outlets with state-of-the-art online fuel monitoring system will be installed.
More than 600 employees in the workshops will be employed at the pumps.
30 to 40 cents for the pumps will be leased to IOC. IOC will provide excellent toilet facilities and cafeterias for passengers.
