PALAKKAD: Arafat helps needy people suffering from Covid by taking them to the hospital in his ambassador car without expecting anything in return.

It all started when a Covid-positive man came at a friend's house had no vehicle, to travel to the hospital. He bought a PPE kit and took him in his ambassador to the hospital. Arafat was able to save the person's life.

Following this. ward member Renuka called for help. A postpartum woman, her newborn baby and family members couldn't find a way to reach to the hospital after being confirmed with the disease. After reaching the hospital, officials there said they could not admit them. The treatment was then ensured by informing the office of the health minister.

Sreekumar, a local, saw Arafat's good deeds and gave his Alto car for the cause. His friend Manu also helps. The car will be sanitized as soon as patients and observers are taken to hospitals. No money will be taken from the poor. If forced, he will accept a maximum of Rs 500-700.

Last year during the lockdown, he and his friends distributed food to lorry drivers and the hungry. Arafat runs a service center and spray paint shop in Edathara.

He has the support of his father Kaja Hussain, mother Ayesha and wife Noushina. His children: Aftab, Ahsab and Ahsan.
