THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fishermen have been banned from venturing into the sea from Friday. There is a warning of formation of low pressure in the south-eastern Arabian Sea. Although Kerala is not in the path of low pressure, there is a possibility of heavy rains and sea erosion in the state.
The Central Meteorological Department has sounded orange alert in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam on May 14 on May 15 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha. According to the latest data from the Central Meteorological Department, the Arabian Sea is expected to be stormy by May 13 due to low pressure formation and strong winds and bad weather in the sea.
The low pressure area moving north-west near Lakshadweep is likely to become the first cyclone of the year by May 16. The Disaster Management Authority has requested the fishermen engaged in deep sea fishing to reach the nearest safe shore by May 12 midnight.
