THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that three districts in the state will be exempted from the triple lockdown from Saturday morning. Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Ernakulam are the districts exempted from the triple lockdown.
The triple lockdown is being withdrawn as the Covid test positivity rate in these districts has dropped below 25 per cent. The CM said that the low number of active cases in the districts has also influenced the new decision.
He said that despite the spread of Covid, the number of active cases in all the districts of the state is declining. Meanwhile, the triple lockdown will continue in Malappuram, the district with the highest TPR.
The state government had imposed a triple lockdown in four districts in the wake of the outbreak. The CM said that the TPR has not gone down in Malappuram after imposing triple lockdown and it has been specially examined.
The CM said that stronger measures would have to be taken to control the spread of the disease in the district. In the district, he said, the police system needs exercise more caution.
