THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The method of determining the number of COVID deaths in the state has been changed. The CM's office said that from now on, COVID deaths would be confirmed at the district level. The new decision was taken following criticism from the opposition. There was widespread criticism against the confirmation of COVID deaths by the state committee.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan welcomed the Chief Minister's announcement. "This is a demand that the Opposition has been raising in the Assembly for the last two days. It will help those who die due to post covid problems to get government benefits," Satheesan said.
