KOCHI: Amala, wife of Arjun Ayangi, accused in Karipur gold smuggling case, appeared at the customs office. She reached the office with her lawyer and the customs is recording her statement. Amala, a law student, was summoned to ask about her husband’s financial dealings.
In a search conducted at Ayangi's house the other day, digital evidences were seized. The seized items have been sent for inspection. Amala was asked to appear at the customs office after this. Arjun Ayangi, who is in customs custody, is being questioned.
Meantime, the custody tenure of Muhammed Shafeeq, the main accused in the case, will end today. The accused was sent in four-days custody for questioning by the court for economic offences in Kochi. Following the completion of seven days, further action is likely to be taken today.
As part of youth representation among chiefs, the leadership is actively considering the names of K S Sabrinath in Thiruvananthapuram and V T Balram in Palakkad. Congress leaders said that if the group leaders do not show restraint, they will get the posts. However, V S Sivakumar, Palode Ravi and Sarathchandra Prasad are also vying for the DCC post in Thiruvananthapuram.
Sooranad Rajasekharan, R Chandrasekharan, A Shanawas Khan and Jyothi Kumar Chamakala are being considered in Kollam, while Sivadasan Nair and Pazhakulam Madhu are being considered in Pathanamthitta. Tommy Kallani in Kottayam, Padmaja Venugopal in Thrissur and A V Gopinath in Palakkad are in the forefront of being considered for the DCC post.
