Will E Sreedharan and Suresh Gopi get ministerial berths?

NEW DELHI: The first cabinet reshuffle of the second Modi government will take place today. Among leaders from Kerala V Muraleedharan will be the Minister of State (independent charge) and Rajya Sabha member Rajiv Chandrasekhar will be inducted into the cabinet. The names of Rajya Sabha member Suresh Gopi and Metro Man E Sreedharan are also heard. There was news that Sreedharan was considered as Lakshadweep administrator. Suresh Gopi's name was also mentioned many times for the post of union minister.

Meantime, prior to the cabinet reshuffle, some ministers were excluded on the basis of their performance. Many including cabinet ministers had resigned ahead of the cabinet reshuffle.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had resigned his post. Apart from Harsh Vardhan, Union Fertilizer Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar and Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal have also resigned. In addition, eight ministers, including Ministers of State Sanjay Dhotre, Pratap Sarangi and Babul Supriyo, have resigned.

Meantime, among senior BJP leaders-- Narayan Rane, Sarbanand Sonawal, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Meenakshi Lekhi will join the union cabinet. Tamil Nadu BJP president L Murugan will become union minister. There are indications that four from Karnataka will be inducted into the cabinet. Apart from Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Sobha Karandlaje, A Narayanaswamy and Bhagwant Khuba will also become ministers.
