Monsoon to intensify in the state; red alert issued in four districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the monsoon intensifying in the state, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains in four districts of Kerala. Following this, a red alert has been declared in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Kasaragod districts.

The IMD has also issued an orange alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts. A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha districts.

The slow-moving monsoon got intensified with the monsoon winds in the Arabian Sea gaining strength. Meanwhile, the meteorological department has forecast low pressure along the Andhra-Odisha coast in the Bay of Bengal tomorrow. With the formation of low pressure, the monsoon is expected to intensify. According to the IMD, heavy rains are expected till Tuesday.
