KOTTAYAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Saturday said that he did not say that the Muslim community had lost out on minority scholarships. "The Muslim community has not suffered any losses. There is no loss to any community currently receiving scholarships," Satheesan said.
"Some reports claim that I've said that the Muslim community had lost out on minority scholarships. I never said that. Those reports are not true. Scholarships are available for three categories: Muslim, Converted Christian, and Latin Christian. As far as I know, the cabinet has decided to retain their existing scholarships," Satheesan said.
"We welcome the fact that the current scholarship is not reduced. We also welcome the government's decision to offer scholarships to other communities in proportion with the population," he added. Satheesan also said that the government should pay heed to the grievances of the Muslim League.
