THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition intensified protests demanding the resignation of Minister V Sivankutty based on Supreme Court’s verdict to face trial in the assembly ruckus case. The opposition boycotted today’s assembly proceedings after the chief minister rejected their demand for the resignation. As soon as the question hour started, the opposition stood up and raised the issue. Opposition leader V D Satheesan blamed the minister for his negative stand. As soon as the session started, the opposition shouted slogans against Minister Sivankutty. The opposition clarified that they stick to their stand and said the chief minister had taken a stand yesterday questioning the dignity of the Supreme Court. However, when the chief minister rejected the demand of resignation, the opposition boycotted the assembly proceedings.
The opposition boycotted the assembly yesterday also demanding the resignation of the minister. The Supreme Court had not mentioned anybody’s name and so there is no need for the minister to resign, the chief minister said while replying to the notice for the adjournment motion moved by P T Thomas. With this, the Speaker denied permission for the motion. Following that, the opposition boycotted the assembly.
