Youth goes missing after being swept away in Niagara

KOLLAM: A youth from Kollam went missing after he was swept away by the strong current of water in Niagara Falls in Canada while he was trying to rescue his friend. Though his friend, a native of Tamil Nadu, was rescued by the police and rushed to the hospital, she was soon pronounced dead.

Ananthu Krishna, the missing youth, is an MS student in Engineering from the University of Constantinople, Canada. He is the son of Chinnakada native Adv Kottathala Shaji.

The incident took place on August 1. Ananthu arrived in Niagara Valley with his friends. Ananthu was swept away by the strong current of water while he attempted to save his friend who fell into the water while taking a picture. Niagara Police, Marine Enforcement and the Coast Guard are still searching for Ananthu.
