No respite for attacks against doctors, woman doctor attacked in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is no respite for attacks against the doctors in the state and the latest incident has been reported from Thiruvananthapuram Fort Taluk Hospital. Dr Malu Murali, who was on duty at the hospital was attacked late Thursday night. Security employees of the hospital were also attacked. The doctor sought treatment at the General Hospital.

The incident happened at 12 am. Two people who sought treatment at the casualty attacked them. The complaint lodged asserted that the two are constant trouble makers and also tried to tear her clothes. The police have taken one into custody. He has been identified as Rasheed of Karimadom. The police have intensified search for the other.

Minister V Sivankutty visited the hospital. He promised to provide necessary security to the doctors. The doctors stayed away from duty in protest against the attack. Similar incidents are happening in many parts of the state. A doctor in Parashala was attacked last week. He was attacked when questioned for not wearing masks. The police had arrested the accused in the case.
