KANNUR: A case has been registered against Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic TV, at Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in a criminal defamation case filed for allegedly humiliating Keralites during a channel discussion.

The complaint filed by P Sasi, CPM leader and president of People's Law Foundation, alleged that Arnab had termed Keralites ‘shameless people’, during a debate on whether central government prevented UAE government from giving flood relief to Kerala. He has been asked to appear in the court on June 20.

Arnab was earlier summoned by a court in Thiruvananthapuram in a criminal defamation case filed by Shashi Tharoor for statements against him in relation to the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. These proceedings were later stayed by the High Court of Kerala in Goswami's petition.
